Market Makers

Investment firms engaged in algorithmic trading and pursuing market making strategies on any Euronext tradable instrument are required to enter into a Market Making Agreement.

Euronext also offers Market Making Schemes on the following instruments, if there is a liquid market: equities, ETFs, ETF options, equity options and futures, equity index options and futures.

Registration process

All Euronext members acting as Market Makers must complete the online Registration Form thus confirming their understanding and acceptance of the General Terms and Conditions that apply to all Euronext Cash and Derivatives instruments.

Upon entering into the Market Making Agreement through the completion of the Registration Form, members are eligible to apply for a Market Making Scheme for each specific product individually, except where indicated otherwise.

Liquidity Providers

In addition to the MiFID II requirements, Euronext maintains Liquidity Provider Programmes on some specific instruments to accommodate product and participant requirements. These Liquidity Provider Programmes are not subject to MiFID II regulations.

The Euronext Liquidity Provider Programmes cover liquidity provision activities conducted by direct members of Euronext.

The Liquidity Provider Programme for Equities covers Equities listed on Euronext regulated markets, Euronext Growth and Euronext Access (all shares excluding those in the Euronext 100 index).

The Programme is limited to Liquidity Providers conducting activities on behalf of an issuer (ie: having a contract with the listed company to provide liquidity).

There are two types of Liquidity Provider for Equities:

  • Permanent Liquidity Provider (for equities traded continuously)
  • Auction Liquidity Provider (for equities traded in auction mode only)

Primary Dealers

The marketplace for Irish Government bonds

The Irish Government bond market is managed by the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA). The NTMA requires Primary Dealers to make continuous two-way prices in designated benchmark bonds, in specified minimum amounts and within specified maximum bid-offer spreads.

All Irish Government Bonds are issued by the NTMA and are listed on the Euronext Dublin Market.

Primary Dealers are required to submit an end of day file of trading activity in Irish Government bonds and treasury bills to Euronext Dublin.

Becoming a Primary Dealer

Firms interested in becoming a Primary Dealer in Irish Government bonds should consult with the NTMA as to their suitability for becoming a Primary Dealer.

All Primary Dealers are required to become member firms of Euronext Dublin. We offer a prompt membership process that can be completed in a short time frame. Please contact us to further discuss your membership requirements.
