Portuguese Stock Exchange Recognizes Capital Markets’ Achievement in 2013
Lisbon – 31 January 2014 – The third Euronext Lisbon Awards held yesterday by the Portuguese Stock Exchange at the Fundação Oriente Museum publicly acknowledged the 20 entities that made a significant contribution to the development of the Portuguese capital markets during 2013. The event was attended by the Secretary of State of Infrastructures, Transport and Communications, Sérgio Monteiro, and Francisco de Lacerda the President and CEO of the CTT which recently listed on the exchange. Issuers, brokers, investment banks, analysts, fund managers, law firms, academics, and journalists made up the audience.
Luís Laginha de Sousa, CEO of Euronext Lisbon, addressed the audience to say: “It gives the Portuguese Stock Exchange great pleasure to hold the third Euronext Lisbon Awards, an event that now involves the entire “ecosystem”.
He added: “The Exchange is actively engaged in a full range of activities aimed at bringing the financing of business in Portugal back on to a sounder footing. In 2013, we were once again a driving force in this area, servicing companies of all sizes and in all sectors. This evening’s event brings together all the key players in the financial sector and I believe that together we can be a an important part of the solutions our country and our companies are seeking.”
The Third Euronext Lisbon Awards were hosted by João Vieira Pereira, Director of the magazine Exame and Editor of the weekly newspaper Expresso. Also present were several prominent public figures: David Justino, Carlos Monjardino, Joana Vasconcelos, Fernando Medina, Ulugbek Suyumov, Raul Marques, Elina Fraga, José Veiga Sarmento, João Duque, Rui Alpalhão, José Gomes Ferreira, José Maria Azevedo Rodrigues, Pedro Seixas Vale, Fernando Faria de Oliveira, Rui Leão Martinho, and Francisco Pinto Balsemão (by order of appearance).
The jury of the Euronext Lisbon Awards remains unchanged: members of the PSI20 Committee namely, João da Silva Ferreira, João Duque and Rui Alpalhão.
