With the acquisition of an Opel dealership in Amsterdam on 15 March 1993, the basis for Stern Groep N.V. was laid. Since then, Stern has grown into one of the largest automotive groups in the Netherlands.

Global Money Week

Child & Youth Finance International opens trading for Global Money Week

Global Money Week is an annual money awareness campaign built to inspire children and youth across the world to learn about money matters, livelihoods and entrepreneurship. GMW2017 reached over 7.8 million children and youth through more than 72,000 activities coordinated by 23,700 organizations in 137 countries. The Week is supported and endorsed by OECD, the African Union Commission, UNICEF, Mastercard, the European Union and many others.

The 7^th edition of Global Money Week will take place from 12 to 18 March 2018, and will be articulated around the theme “Money Matters Matter!”. Numerous activities take place during GMW, amongst them the traditional visit to Stock Exchange for the “Ring around the World” event. 57 Stock Exchanges took part during GMW2017.

“Ring around the World” allows children and youth the opportunity to ring the opening bell or close the trading activities for the day. It allows them to gain knowledge of the financial world, learn about stock exchange workings, discover the history of money, and to enjoy a unique experience.

Winners of the For Women in Science Scholarship sound the gong

Winners of the annual L’Oréal-Unesco For Women in Science Scholarship Program Sonja Swanson and Hanneke Wigman open the trading day in Amsterdam.

The winners received the scholarship for the sixth edition of For Women in Science, an initiative led by Euronext Amsterdam listed L’Oréal, Unesco, LNVH and the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study.

Each year, the Dutch L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Fellowship Program awards two grants to outstanding  female scientists. The participation of women in scientific research is essential for economic, social and cultural development.

Ring the Bell for Gender Equality

Euronext rings the opening bell for Gender Equality

On 8 March 2018, Euronext organised a bell ceremony on all its markets (Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon and Paris) to celebrate the International Women's Day with the associations Women in ETFs, UN Women and UN Global Compact. Around 60 other stock exchanges in the world also celebrated the event.

Cyrille Verbeeten, Women in ETFs City Liaison Amsterdam, opens trading at Euronext Amsterdam.

Founded in January 2014, WE is a non-profit organization that brings together over 3,200 members, including women and men, in chapters in major financial centres across the United States, Canada, EMEA and Asia Pacific to further the careers of women by leveraging their collective skill and ambition. 

This year, Women in ETFs is proud to partner with UN Global Compact, Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, UN Women, IFC, and The World Federation of Exchanges to host events across the globe during the week to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality for sustainable development and business. Bell ringing ceremonies will take place at over 30 exchanges globally and WE will lead events in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Euronext partner Screen Group celebrates integration with TRG

Screen Group opens the trading day at the Amsterdam stock exchange to celebrate its strategic partnership with Euronext Amsterdam as well as its recent acquisition by TRG.

Since 1990 Screen Group offers a range of specialised services and solutions for the professional financial information services industry. 35 years AEX-Index®

Sounding of the gong for 35 years AEX

Together with Euronext Amsterdam, Insinger Gillisen sounds the gong in light of the 35-year anniversary of the AEX-Index. The AEX was founded on March 4th 1983 and was the first national Blue Chip index in Europe.

The AEX-Index contains 25 companies from the top segment of the Dutch stock exchange, including many multinationals such as Royal Dutch Shell, Unilever, ING Groep, Royal Philips Electronics, and ArcelorMittal. The AEX is the benchmark for the stock market climate in the Netherlands and offers international visibility for the companies that are part of it.

In 1983, the then options-exchange director Tjerk Westerterp put together the very first index on the back of a cigarette box, in the train between Liège and Luxembourg. He came to 13 funds: ABN Bank, Ahold, Akzo, Amro Bank, Gist-Brocades, Heineken, Hoogovens, KLM, Royal Dutch, Nationale Nederlanden, Philips, Unilever and Nedlloyd. The index was then called EOE index (European Options Exchange). Later this list grew to 20 companies until eventually it became 25.
