HRH prince Constantijn van Oranje sounding gong ahead of Startup Fest Europe

His Royal Highness prince Constantijn van Oranje, Chairman of Startup Fest, sounds the gong ahead of Startup Fest Europe. Startup Fest Europe is a nationwide festival of events that help startups grow faster by bringing together founders, investors, business leaders and developers around specific themes.

In the first half of 2016 The Netherlands holds the presidency of the European Union. Startup Fest Europe is a great way to show the world that the West Coast of Europe is a hot bed for startups and innovation.

Startup Fest was initiated by Startup Delta after consultations in early 2015 with leaders of the Dutch startup eco system. HRH prince Constantijn van Oranje chaired these consultations and invited 75 leaders of the Dutch startup community to voice their views on how to create a true “West Coast of Europe” and bring international venture capitals and startups to the Netherlands. These week-long match making activities are a joint effort of startup hubs in the cities of Amsterdam, Arnhem, Delft, Eindhoven, Enschede, Geleen, Leeuwarden, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Wageningen, Groningen and Zwolle.

Successful debut of Portuguese Treasury Bonds dedicated to retail

“OTRV MAIO 2021” demand exceeds €1.2 billion

The first issue of Treasury Bonds, dedicated to retail investors, was listed in the regulated market on May 19. Initially set at €350 million, the Portuguese Treasury and Debt Management Agency (IGCP), which has issued this “OTRV Maio 2021” bond on behalf of the Portuguese government, increased the total amount to €750 million based on the demand surge on the first day of the subscription period.

Teslin Capital Management

Teslin sounds the gong on Amsterdam exchange to celebrate 25th anniversary

Teslin Capital Management, investor in small and medium-sized listed companies, sound the gong on the Amsterdam stock exchange to mark their 25th anniversary.

Teslin was set up in 1991 by Aleid Kruize and Frederik van Beuningen. Darlin, Teslin’s first fund, was followed by Todlin and Midlin. Darlin and Todlin invest in stakes of 5% or larger in small and medium-sized listed Dutch companies, while Midlin invests in medium-sized companies, primarily in the Netherlands and Germany. Teslin also manages investment company ‘Rhoon, Pendrecht en Cortgene’, which invests in agricultural land.

“Sounding the gong on the Amsterdam exchange is a great way of marking Teslin’s 25th anniversary,” says Van Beuningen. “The exchange is where companies and investors meet and we believe in what the Amsterdam exchange does. We’d love to see more fantastic Dutch companies being listed in the next few years. The stock exchange is the place to raise capital from investors to allow businesses to grow.”

Renault celebrates 40 years cup races by sounding the gong

As a brand with over 115 years of history within the motorsport, Renault Netherlands started a sponsorship with Stichting Groot Hart to celebrate 40 years Renault cup racing. Together they sound the gong at the Amsterdam exchange.

Stichting Groot Hart is a foundation that delivers a day on the race circuit for sick children between the ages of 5 and 17 and their family. Renault Netherlands organizes activities for Groot Hart during three race meetings. The start of the co-operation between Renault and Groot Hart takes place during the Pinkster races at circuit park Zandvoort.

Stichting Groot Hart was founded by Dutch television presenter and racing driver Rob Kamphues, who is usually present at the racing days where the children and their families are treated as VIPs. The highlight of the day is when the kids get to go for a ride in a Renault Racing car next to a real racing driver.

Winners European Enterprise Promotion Awards sound gong

The winners of the Dutch finals of the European Enterprise Promotion Awards 2016 visit Beursplein 5 and open trading by sounding the gong.

The European Commission recognizes innovation with The European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA) and rewards successful examples of good business policy every year. The awards are intended for: local and regional governments, research institutions, schools and public-private partnerships that encourage entrepreneurship in creative and inspiring projects, for SMEs in particular.

The two best initiatives will represent the Netherlands at the European finals at the SME Assembly in Bratislava 30 November 2016. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency organizes the European Enterprise Promotion Awards for the European Commission on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. This year the Awards will be presented for the tenth time.

First steps of ASIT biotech on Euronext

Euronext Brussels and Paris welcome ASIT Biotech, a Belgian company specialised in the treatment of allergies. Thierry Legon, CEO of ASIT Biotech, rang the opening bell to celebrate the first listing of the company.

ASIT biotech joins a community of 77 life sciences issuers listed on Euronext.

Headquarted in Belgium, ASIT biotech s.a. (formerly known as Biotech Tools) is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and future commercialization of a range of breakthrough immunotherapy products for the treatment of allergies, based on its ASIT+™ technology platform. The company was founded in 1997 as a spin-off company of the Université libre de Bruxelles.

ASIT biotech (ticker code: ASIT) raised € 23.5 million in new capital at a final offer price of € 7.00 per share. With a total of 12,756,800 shares admitted on the day of listing, the company has an initial market capitalisation of € 89.3 million.

The proceeds of the IPO will help ASIT biotech to support the preclinical and clinical development of product candidates, to cover general corporate purposes and to accelerate the discovery of new ASIT+™ platform-based product candidates.

25th Roparun

Roparun Foundation visits Beursplein 5 prior to 25th Roparun

Next Saturday the 25th Roparun will start in Hamburg and Paris and finishes Whit Monday in Rotterdam. Michael Beenhakker, Director Roparun Foundation, sounds the gong accompanied by ambassador Nelli Cooman and participants of team Unilever, team KPN and team Tref & Co.

The Roparun is a relay race of more than 500 kilometers from Paris and Hamburg to Rotterdam, in which people work as a team to give a combined sports performance in order to raise money for people who suffer from cancer.  

Besides the physical challenge, the team must also make an effort to raise money for the cause. Teams do this by organizing various activities. The three teams who raise the most money and the six teams who win for their running speed are honored during the final celebration of the Roparun, which takes place a few weeks after the finish. Over the past twenty-four editions of the Roparun, more than sixty-seven million Euros have been raised.

The Netherlands Red Cross sounds gong for Africa

Floortje Dessing en Juriaan Lahr van het Rode Kruis luiden de gong voor Afrika. Een grote hongersnood dreigt hier voor minstens 42 miljoen mensen. Door het weerfenomeen El Niño is er al maanden extreme droogte in verschillende landen in het continent, met  grote water- en voedseltekorten tot gevolg.

Door het uitblijven van regen is de situatie in verschillende landen verergerd. Kinderen, zwangere vrouwen en vrouwen die borstvoeding geven zijn het meest kwetsbaar en hebben acuut hulp nodig. Bijvoorbeeld in Ethiopië waar het land op dit moment te maken heeft met de grootste droogteperiode in 50 jaar. Meer dan 10 miljoen mensen hebben hier voedselhulp nodig en bijna 6 miljoen mensen hebben niet genoeg water of sanitaire voorzieningen. In Oost- en Zuidelijk Afrika, hebben op dit moment zo'n 1 miljoen kinderen extra medische hulp nodig wegens ernstige uitdroging of ondervoeding.

Op de Internationale Dag van het Rode Kruis, 8 mei, wil de hulporganisatie aandacht vragen voor deze nijpende situatie en de nodige hulp.

National Committee 4 and 5 May visit Euronext

John Bakker, board member of the National Committee 4 and 5 May and a member of the National Fund 4 and 5 May, opens trading at the Amsterdam exchange on Liberation Day.

On 4 May we commemorate all war victims who died during and after World Way 2. On 5 May, we celebrate that we live in freedom for over 70 years. Freedom only becomes meaningful if you know what it means to not be free. That this freedom is fragile is apparent every day. Freedom needs more than silent nurturing. The preservation of a free society also requires responsibility. The organizations of all festivities is not possible without all business and volunteers who contribute to this both at national and local level.

A new memorial will be unveiled on Dam square in Amsterdam in the presence of Mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan. The memorial commemorates the 31 known victims who perished during the shooting on the Dam square on May 7th, 1945, two days after the German capitulation in the Netherlands. Intensive research into this event by Foundation Memorial 2015 for Dam Victims May 7th, 1945 led to the actual number and names of the victims.
