    BlackRock launches iShares Bitcoin ETP

    A new trading day was opened today by BlackRock in honour of the iShares Bitcoin ETP launch. This will allow investors in Europe to gain access to bitcoin without the complexity of directly trading and holding the cryptocurrency. 

    A recent survey of asset professionals conducted by BlackRock and Focal Data showed that bitcoin ETPs attract a high level of interest among professional investors, with 75% indicating interest in investing in a bitcoin ETP within the next two years. 

    Kirst Kuipers, Head of Institutional ETF Sales EMEA at BlackRock sounded the gong this morning in the presence of René van Vlerken, CEO of Euronext Amsterdam and Paul Noordam, Senior Manager Sales and Product Management Cash Equities & Derivatives at Euronext Amsterdam.

    Gerben van Driel, presenter of Bulls & Bears, sounded the gong this morning to celebrate this festive occasion. 

    The group was welcomed by Dirk Donker, Head of Secondary Markets Benelux & Germany and Board Member of Euronext Amsterdam.

  • ABN AMRO issues EU Green Bond

    ABN AMRO first financial institution to issue EU Green Bond

    ABN AMRO is the first financial institution in Europe and the first issuer in the Benelux to successfully issue an EU Green Bond (EuGB). 

    The bond has a value of €750 million, an interest rate of 3% and a maturity of six years. The proceeds will be allocated to green buildings and renewable energy projects. 

    The gong ceremony to mark the issue was performed by Ruud Jaegers, Head of Long Term Funding & Capital Issuance at ABN AMRO. The Group was welcomed by Paul Noordam, Senior Manager Sales and Product Management and Christine van den Bos, Listing Director at Euronext Amsterdam

Regulatory bodies

Euronext Amsterdam is governed by the Act on Financial Supervision of 28 September 2006. Operation of a regulated market in the Netherlands is subject to prior licence. This licence is granted to Euronext by the Dutch Minister of Finance. The AFM (Autoriteit Financiële Markten) and the Dutch National Bank act as the regulatory authority for members of Euronext Amsterdam.

The AFM:

  • Monitors the primary and secondary markets

  • Ensures compliance with market rules

  • Monitors clearing and settlement operations.
