Paris – 12 July 2012 NYSE Euronext today announced the listing on NYSE Alternext in Paris of Méthanor, a key player in farm biogas production.
Méthanor specialises in methanation, a natural process that uses fermentation to convert organic farm waste into biogas (typically methane and CO2), which is then converted again into energy. Part of the biogas produces heat, and part produces electricity, which is sold to French power utility EDF at a price that is guaranteed for 15 years. Working with farmers and small and mid-size agricultural businesses, Méthanor finances the construction and operation of farm methanation units, drawing on the expertise of an in-house team of specialists and experienced partners, primarily in Germany, where over 7,000 production units are now in operation.
Méthanor (ticker: ALMET) was listed through admission to trading of 180,671 existing shares and 284,040 new shares issued under a Global Offering.* The Global Offering raised a total of €2.55 million.
The admission and issue price of Méthanor was set at €9 per share. Market capitalisation stood at around €4.1 million on the day of listing.
“We are delighted to welcome Méthanor to NYSE Alternext, and to support this promising company as it enters a new stage in its growth,” said Marc Lefèvre, Head of European Business Development and Client Coverage at NYSE Euronext. “Listing will raise Méthanor’s profile and give it the credibility it needs to offer a sound industrial solution to today’s environmental requirements.”
François Gerber, co-manager of Méthanor, added: “We would like to thank our shareholders for the trust they have shown by taking part in Méthanor’s listing, and who have made our market debut a success in a particularly trying economy. They understand the vast potential of a business that is both good for the planet and profitable. We will focus all our energies on getting our methanation units into production to give Méthanor a lasting presence as a high-yield share.”
In seven years, €2.7 billion has been raised on NYSE Alternext, half through secondary issues, by companies from countries including Belgium, Canada, China, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and the US. Their market capitalisation totals €6.2 billion. Today 183 companies are listed on NYSE Alternext.
