We are delighted to welcome Borsa Italiana Group to Euronext. This transaction marks a historic day in our ambition to build the backbone of the Capital Markets Union in Europe. Today, we join our forces to create the leading pan-European market infrastructure, supporting local economies across Europe by connecting them to global markets.

Together, Borsa Italiana Group and Euronext become the leading venue for secondary markets in Europe, with €12.2 billion worth of cash equities and ETFs traded on a daily basis (FY2020). The group is now the leading listing venue in Europe with more than 1,890 companies listed on our markets, for a combined market capitalisation of €5.6 trillion. It will also be the leading venue for equity financing: in 2020, investors raised more than €63 billion on our markets to finance companies across Europe.

With this historic transaction, we also welcome a larger franchise of companies which are strong players in their fields: CC&G, Monte Titoli and MTS. We expect the combined group to enhance the businesses of all segments across Euronext, leading to greater benefits for investors, members and issuers alike, and for the wider European financial marketplace which Euronext serves.
