Week of Economy education 2023

The second Week of Economics Education will take place from 20 to 24 November. Developed for and by education professionals, the substantive programme offers inspiration about the economics profession.

ClimateLaunchpad – Celebrating 10th edition

ClimateLaunchpad is a competition for green companies where this year, more than 500 green companies from 50 countries will be guided and trained from idea to business plan.

Ederik Tiessen, Project Manager of ClimateLaunchpad, sounded the Gong in honour of their 10th edition of this competition.

Exchange Drumming 2023

This morning, a new trading day on Euronext Amsterdam opened with more noise than usual. More than 100 children drummed happily from the trading floor during the traditional ‘Exchange Drumming’.

Exchange Drumming is a tradition that was started around 400 years ago, after an orphan boy managed to prevent the Amsterdam Stock Exchange building from being blown up by Spaniards during the Eighty Years’ War. As a thank you, his wish was granted and, together with other orphans, he was allowed to drum in the Stock Exchange building.

Today, more than 100 schoolchildren continue this tradition, and they came – with their drums – to take a look behind the scenes at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

Greenlabel – Attention to CSRD reporting

Today, Hans Scholten, co-shareholder of NL Greenlabel, and Lodewijk Hoekstra co-founder of NL Greenlabel, opened the trading day at a Gong ceremony.

NL Greenlabel was founded to draw attention to the importance of biodiversity and the new way of reporting (CSRD), in which sustainability is becoming the norm. A new directive that will become mandatory for many companies from 2024.

40-year listing anniversary of Aegon

This year, Aegon is celebrating two anniversaries: In 1983, the company was founded through the merger of insurers Ago and Ennia. In the same year, Aegon listed on Euronext Amsterdam.

As an international financial services company, Aegon brings together a range of businesses that together help millions of people around the world with a wide range of investment, protection and retirement solutions.

To celebrate this 40th anniversary and listing, Aegon's CEO Lard Friese sounded the Gong. The Aegon team was welcomed by Simone Huis in 't Veld, CEO at Euronext Amsterdam, and René van Vlerken, Head of Listing at Euronext Amsterdam.

Opening Week of the Investor 2023

Investor Week has started again! A week-long event to draw attention to the importance of investing.

On Friday 10 November, this national week concludes at the Beleggersfair, the largest investor event in the Netherlands. Martijn Develing, Online Editor of TRIPLE i, kicked off Investor Week today by ringing the Gong.

Today, Nancy McKinstry, CEO of Wolters Kluwer, opened the trading day during a traditional Gong ceremony.

In McKinstry's 20 years as CEO, the company transformed from a Dutch player to a leading global technology and software company. Wolters Kluwer also celebrated 50 years of being listed on Euronext Amsterdam this year.

10-year anniversary of DEGIRO

DEGIRO is an online broker that offers an online investment platform. Through this platform, clients can trade globally. DEGIRO begin in 2008 as an institutional broker for professional investors. In September 2013, DEGIRO launched its online brokerage services for retail clients in the Netherlands. As a result, DEGIRO has become one of the largest brokers in Europe.

Today Frank Niehage, CEO of flatex DEGIRO AG, sounded the Gong to mark the 10^th anniversary of the online brokerage launch.

Andy van den Dobbelsteen, Sustainability Coordinator at the TU delft, has been named as 2023 CSR Manager of the Year and sounded the gong for this occasion.

The CSR Manager of the Year election has been organised since 2012. The purpose of the election is to provide additional recognition of the efforts and results of enthusiastic CSR managers.

Starting tomorrow, the annual Morningstar Sustainable Investing Summit will take place in Amsterdam.

During this conference, professionals from the financial sector will gather to learn about strategies, methods and tools that they need to build a long-term sustainable financial success.

Winner of the School Competition 2023

Today, Rijnlands Lyceum from Sassenheim was welcomed for the second time for being the winner of the School Competition. During this competition, thousands of secondary school students take part in a digital investment competition. This competition is an initiative of Stichting Capital Amsterdam and is a biannual event that is part of the broader education platform BeleggerUitlegger.

One of the winning students was therefore given the honour of ringing the Gong today.

APG invests in listed property for 25 years

It has been 25 years since APG first invested in listed real estate. The global pension administration organisation saw their investments in logistics real estate, particularly distribution centres, double to 20 per cent in recent years.

Celebrating the success of the new ABN AMRO order flow application

ABN AMRO Bank has a direct link to the stock exchange for executing Dutch orders in their retail & wealth customer segments. Until the beginning of this year, they returned their order flow directly to Euronext through an in-house developed application. This year, the system was replaced which was seen as an open-heart operation within ABN AMRO's investment landscape.

This success was celebrated by sounding the Gong by Yoeri van Schaik, Product Owner Investments at ABN AMRO Bank.
