Children open new day of trading at Exchange Drumming Day 2024

The trading day at Euronext Amsterdam started this morning with more noise than usual! More than 150 children drummed their way across the Amsterdam trading floor during the annual Exchange Drumming Day.

Exchange Drumming is a more than 400-year-old tradition. During the Eighty Years' War, an orphan boy from Amsterdam managed to prevent an attack on the stock exchange building. As a reward, the boy was allowed to drum with other children in the building. This tradition is still very much alive within Euronext Amsterdam. Primary school pupils thus get a unique, and above all playful, glimpse behind the scenes of the stock exchange world.

The financial heart of the Netherlands

The Amsterdam Stock Exchange offers ambitious companies from the Netherlands and abroad access to the global capital markets  and connects the various market participants.

Companies like Adyen, ASML, Marel and Prosus are proof of Amsterdam’s appeal to multinationals, thanks to the access to global institutional investors that the Dutch capital market offers. The Amsterdam market is equally attractive to domestic small and mid sized companies.

We offer professional traders a hi-tech environment through our proprietary trading platform Optiq, and private and institutional investors the assurance of a transparent and regulated trading environment.
